About Joe

Joe Kovac III, who has been playing cello for a decade, is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in cello performance at Florida State University. There, he studies with Gregory Sauer. Joe has played as principal cellist in University Philharmonia and is currently part of the upper-level orchestra, University Symphony Orchestra.

Joe is passionate about sharing his music with the community. He has performed at a fundraiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind with pianist David Crohan and Phil Collins' backup singer Arnold McCuller. He organized a Veteran's Day music program at his former high school. He won the Macon Telegraph Golden Eagle in music in 2015, an annual award for excellence in different areas. He has played for retirement homes, churches, and community events in the past. He looks forward to his nonprofit community performance organization which is in progress.

Though his main study is classical music, he frequently enjoys performing other genres like pop and rock, as well as improvising.

​

When he is not locked away in a practice room, he enjoys composing & arranging music, running, and cooking.
